I am getting ver angry. Over the past few months, I have read many articles about people abandoning their pets due to the UK's credit crunch.
Last year, the RSPCA was forced to rescue 7,346 animals abandoned by their owners. In the first four months of 2008, a further 2,621 animals have been picked up, Almost half of all the animals abandoned were cats.
Now I have to brilliant cats who i love so much and I could never ever imagine even contemplating abandoning them. People are using lack of money as an excuse. Pet food has not gone up in price and if you get stores own brand pet food, you can feed an animal quite cheaply.
Animals (especailly cats and dogs) can give people so much pleasure, they are faithful and loving and great company, especially for people who live alone.
People need to realise tha by getting a pet, they are making a big commitment as they are responsible food feeding them, grooming them, paying vets bills, playing with them and generally providing a loving home. Too many people get a pet on impulse and then just dump them when they get bored of them. Would they dump their children in a box in the cold because they where bored of them? No, so why do it to an animal. An animal still feels the cold and will feel rejected, they have feelings.
